City & Guilds are the most widely recognised accreditation body in the UK with royal chartered status for 140 years. In conjunction with Total Comms training, we offer the full range of structured cabling infrastructure courses in copper and fibre.
Networks Centre can deliver the full suite of 3668 communications cabling awards, both at Level 2 and at Level 3, leading to the much sought-after Diploma in Communications Cabling Design and Planning.
3668-02: 201 – Principles of Communications Cabling Level 2
Duration: 1 day.
Assessed by: Timed examination.
Aimed at: Anyone who is thinking of entering into the communications cabling installation industry, including datacomms engineers looking to prove their installation skills and individuals who are in allied trades.
Provides delegates with a fundamental understanding of cabling media and the basic principles that lie behind communications cabling and the basic workings of a network cabling system are explored.
Can be taken independently or as a bundle with Unit 202 or 203 to gain the full level 2 award in Communication Cabling.
3668-02: 202 – Fibre Optic Cabling Level 2
Duration: 5 days.
Assessed by: Timed examination.
Aimed at: Network installers, fibre optic cabling installers and engineers.
Looks at basic installation practices, fibre optic connectorisation, splicing fibre, external enclosures and test requirements and on completion, delegates will be able to apply the skills gained to real life situations involving cabling systems.
3668-02: 203 – Structured Cabling and Enterprise Networks Level 2
Duration: 3 days.
Assessed by: Timed examination and a practical assessment.
Aimed at: Datacomms engineers and people in allied trades looking to prove their installation skills and professionalism.
Provides delegates with the knowledge and installation skills that are needed to install, terminate and test copper cabling for datacomms structured cabling data networks.
Can be taken independently or in conjunction with the Unit 201 foundation unit for a full level 2 award in Communication Cabling.
3668 03 Unit 301 & 302: Safe Working Procedures & Behaviours and Telecoms Fundamentals
Duration: 2 days.
Assessed by: Timed assignments.
Aimed at: Anyone who wishes to progress further than Level 2, such as those entering supervisory, design or project management roles.
Two mandatory modules are offered as part of a training package including one of three optional modules leading to a full level 3 Certificate in Communications Cabling.
Unit 301 supports the development of the safe working practices and behaviours for working in internal and external environments including public highway, underground, overhead and internal networks to national legislative safety and industry standards.
Unit 302, covering telecommunication fundamentals, is intended to enable attendees to learn about the fundamentals of telecoms transmission technologies and digital networks.
3668 03 Unit 303: Fibre Optic Cabling
Duration: 3 days.
Assessed by: Timed assignments.
Aimed at: Anyone who wishes to progress further than Level 2, such as those entering supervisory, design or project management roles.
Following the completion of mandatory units 301/302.
Provides the opportunity to evaluate the most appropriate fibre optic cabling that are commonly available in the communications cabling industry.
3668 03 Unit 305: Passive Optical Networks (PON)
Duration: 3 days.
Assessed by: Timed assignments.
Aimed at: Anyone who wishes to progress further than Level 2, such as those entering supervisory, design or project management roles.
Following the completion of mandatory Units 301/302.
Provides the skills to carry out the evaluation needed for the deployment of passive optical networks, as well as familiarity with terminologies used and technology deployed in passive optical network systems.
