Networks Centre is Ready for Take-Off
Networks Centre Scotland is proud to have been a key part of the supply chain providing network infrastructure to the first fully licensed vertical launch spaceport in Europe.
Unst, one of the northern isles of the Shetlands, was the chosen location for the site due to nearby Glaswegian companies being the largest European manufacturers of small satellites. While this provided an excellent base of operations, it also proved a sizeable logistical challenge.
Through a single point of contact, the client benefitted from the strong partnership between Networks Centre and Leviton to consolidate Cat6A cable, the ATLAS range of connectivity, fibre, enclosures, cable management, basic sundries, and patch cords.
Leviton’s facilities in Glenrothes aided the efficiency of delivery and a more economical shipping method; all goods were gathered within the Networks Centre Scotland warehouse in Glasgow for a single shipment.
Assistant Branch Manager at Networks Centre Scotland, Jamie, worked closely with Leviton’s application engineering department to ensure successful delivery of all items first time and avoid any issues on such a remote location.
The project was under a tight timescale for supply that, with assistance from Leviton, Networks Centre were able to satisfy without delay to the installation time frame.
As a result of the services provided by Networks Centre, the project manager enquired about assistance in supply for Shetland Telecom, leading to the supply of over 10km of sub-ducting.
